Electrical equipment manufacturer Sargent Electrical Services has broken ground on a new manufacturing facility in Beverley, East Yorkshire, marking one of the largest local industrial investments in recent years.

Crews from Triton Construction are now on site at Grovehill, preparing for the arrival of the building’s steel framework within the coming weeks. The 85,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Centre is designed to operate predominantly off the grid, reflecting a growing trend toward energy-independent industrial buildings.

The expansion will allow Sargent to grow its workforce from approximately 140 to 200 employees. The company, which currently operates from a unit at Tokenspire Business Park, secured planning permission for the Grovehill site last year on land that formerly housed a care home.

Sargent specializes in wiring systems for motorhomes and caravans — a niche but growing segment of the UK leisure vehicle market. The new facility will increase production capacity for these electrical systems while also adding modern office space and employee amenities.

Founded as a family-run business, Sargent has grown to an annual turnover of 14.8 million pounds. Beyond its core motorhome work, the company has completed electrical installations in several prominent London landmarks and developed telemetry-based precision farming systems that give farmers real-time data on soil conditions and crop variables.

Triton Construction, named principal contractor, has a track record delivering industrial and logistics developments across northern England. Managing director Paul Clarkson called it a fantastic project and an important investment in advanced manufacturing in East Yorkshire.

Moving a manufacturing operation to a larger, purpose-built facility is always a significant investment, especially when it involves expanding headcount by 60 people. But Sargent’s diversification into precision farming, commercial installations, and landmark projects suggests demand across multiple sectors is strong enough to support the growth.

The facility is expected to become operational from April next year.
