The Pentagon has awarded Foundation Future Industries a $24 million contract to test its heavy-duty humanoid robots, designed to breach enemy positions and reduce risk to American personnel.
The robots, called Phantom, have drawn support from Eric Trump, who serves as chief strategy advisor to the company. “We are America First. We have to win this race,” Trump said on Mornings with Maria.
The contract aims to strengthen U.S. ground readiness as China advances in both land and air-based autonomous systems. Pathak said the latest Phantom model has eliminated the “robotic” feel, allowing better integration into human environments.
The current Phantom weighs 176 pounds and moves at 1.7 meters per second. Pathak said a more powerful Phantom 2 is in development. Beyond defense, the company sees potential in construction and disaster relief.
“I think it’s going to be the strongest humanoid robot that exists anywhere in the world, including China,” Pathak told Fox Business.
