Hull-based Latus Group has acquired Cirrus Environmental Solutions, a South Tyneside occupational hygiene specialist, establishing a Northern hub in East Boldon.

The deal marks the fifth acquisition for Latus following NorthEdge investment in July 2024. Cirrus, founded in 2005 by co-founders Stuart Hovvels and Rachel Bowman, brings technical expertise in air quality and exposure monitoring, occupational noise surveys, local exhaust ventilation testing, and vibration monitoring.

The 12-employee Boldon office will serve as Latus’s base for delivering occupational hygiene and broader health services across the northern regions and Scotland, significantly expanding the group’s geographical reach.

“Joining Latus is an exciting next step for our business and people,” said Bowman. “As part of the group, we can offer clients access to end-to-end workplace compliance solutions with UK-wide coverage.”

Hovvels added the team looks forward to remaining in current roles while continuing to serve existing customers with what they called “market-leading workplace environmental solutions.”

CEO Jack Latus said the acquisition positions the business as a “leading provider of workplace compliance solutions” focused on employee health. He noted occupational hygiene remains a key strategic growth area, with Cirrus bringing “market-leading talent” to the group.
