Liverpool’s skyline could see a £1bn transformation with public consultation now open on the Kings development. A hybrid planning application will likely be submitted to Liverpool City Council this summer, featuring 10 proposed buildings divided into residential, office, and leisure zones.
Development Details
The Kings scheme sits on the edge of Liverpool city centre around Gibraltar Row. The hybrid application will seek detailed consent for layout, site services, and some buildings, with outline consent for remaining plots. Expect 4 residential towers, 2 hotels, Grade A offices, a new arts venue, shared workspace for start-ups, and food/beverage/leisure outlets.
Chris Bolland of Brock Carmichael Architects said: “This is a key moment in shaping our final proposals. An awful lot of hard work has gone into our designs, taking into consideration everything from heritage and permeability to layout, massing and scale.”
Liverpool Council planners gave consent to a 28-storey tower on the seven acre plot in February. Now attendees can review plans and speak with design, planning, heritage and transport teams behind the proposals from 10am to 7pm on May 1 and 10am to 4pm on May 2. An exhibition will also be hosted in the Radisson Blu hotel on Old Hall Street.
Hugh Frost, chairman of Beetham Davos Limited, said: “This is everyone’s skyline and the online consultation will help ensure we fully reflect the views of people from across Merseyside.”
A full consultation website mirroring the exhibition’s contents will go live on May 1. The site will be closing for submissions at midnight on May 7, and will be found at www.kingsconsultation.com
