Virgin StartUp has launched applications for Momentum 2.0, a free eight-week accelerator programme designed specifically to help dyslexic entrepreneurs scale their businesses. Running from 26 May to 14 July 2026, the programme returns following record interest in its inaugural cohort, which supported 30 founders and saw nine in ten participants reframe their dyslexic thinking as a strategic advantage.

Backed by Virgin Unite and delivered in partnership with Made By Dyslexia, the accelerator offers tailored workshops, one-to-one mentoring, and practical resources aligned with dyslexic cognitive strengths. A dedicated “Dyslexic Thinking” space within Virgin StartUp’s online community extends support beyond the core cohort.

The economic rationale for supporting dyslexic founders is compelling. Analysis from Made By Dyslexia estimates that dyslexic business owners contribute at least £4.6 billion annually to UK GDP and support over 60,000 jobs. With approximately one in three entrepreneurs identified as dyslexic, traits such as pattern recognition, creative problem-solving, and big-picture thinking are increasingly recognised as valuable entrepreneurial assets.

Elle Upshall, scale up lead at Virgin StartUp, noted that the first cohort’s success demonstrated the impact of designing business support around diverse thinking styles. Alumni include Alex Molokwu, founder of Loujo, which uses educational songs to support dyslexic children’s literacy, and Aylin Abdullah, founder of AI-powered marketplace Fractionals Match—both crediting the programme with helping them harness their natural cognitive approaches.

Kate Griggs, founder of Made By Dyslexia, emphasised that dyslexic thinking is critical to unlocking UK innovation and growth. The initiative forms part of Virgin Group’s broader commitment to advancing neurodivergent talent, inspired by Richard Branson’s own experience with dyslexia.

Applications for Momentum 2.0 close on 8 May 2026. Full details and application information are available at virginstartup.org/momentum.
